It’s All Free at “Philadelphia Freedom”

While it is true that Philadelphia is home to several distinguished cultural institutions of the ticketed variety, it is also accurate to say that some of the best art in Philadelphia is free.

Need help on finding a place to start admiring free art?   Local arts enthusiast Chris Purdom has compiled Philadelphia Public Art, a website of more than 500 outdoor pieces, including architecture, sculptures, mosaics, fountains and more, found at www.philart.net.  Each entry includes  a short description of the piece, along with a photograph, location, and sometimes other interesting information.

What’s best is that you can sort the pieces by title, year, artist, or even content.  Have a thing for turtles?  Sort by content and click on the turtle link, and marvel at your options.
