On February 21, 2007 WHYY’s Radio Times featured The Race Beat: The Press, the Civil Rights Struggle, and the Awakening of a Nation, by journalists Gene Roberts and Hank Klibanoff. Managing Editor of news at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and formerly of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Klibanoff told host Marty Moss-Coane how the nation became “shocked and shaken” by news from the American South.
Yesterday, its authors were awarded The Pulitzer Prize in the category of history for this important and definitive book.
