Get to know the Arctic through film

If you’re like me, you’ve probably never been to the Arctic. (Oh wait, I did have a layover in the Anchorage airport but I don’t think that counts.)

You have probably never gotten to experience the majesty of 100 foot high, sheer glacier walls or seen a polar bear in its rapidly dwindling natural habitat.

Most likely, you’re probably also not a member of “a community of experts on the history of Arctic exploration.”

Well, for one day, you can indulge your Arctic curiosity at a film festival dedicated exploration of the North Pole (and its suburbs).  Check out Alex Schmidt’s latest piece from WHYY’s Arts and Culture Desk about a conference and film festival going on this week at the Academy of Natural Sciences.
