African presence in Mexico featured at new exhibit

African American Museum features the African presence in MexicoWHYY’s Arts and Culture reporter, Alex Schmidt, got a preview of a traveling exhibition that examines the African presence in Mexico. Hosted by the African American Museum at 7th and Arch – right around the corner, I should go check it out – the exhibition opens tomorrow.

You can listen to Alex’s piece here.

According to some of the folks she talked to, the exhibition could be a way for the city’s burgeoning Mexican community and its longtime African American community to open up new lines of dialog and see how their own cultures have been affected by each other.
